Community events that bring people together: a look back at November

After the successful community events in October, November once again showed how easy it can be to connect with the people around you. Across several Holland2Stay locations, residents came together to meet neighbours, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company - even as the days grew shorter and colder.

From relaxed indoor gatherings to active outdoor experiences, November was full of moments that brought people together. At Holland2Stay, we encourage residents to take the initiative and organise activities with and for each other. Whether it’s a movie night, board games, sharing a meal, or an escape room, these moments help turn a building into a place that really feels like home.

Putluck event at The European

Pizza night at The Beech (Eindhoven)

At The Beech in Eindhoven, residents organised a cozy pizza night. Because sometimes, all you need is good food, a drink, and a conversation with your neighbours to unwind after a long day.

Xiaoge, one of the residents, said the evening was great fun - and that the pizza definitely didn’t disappoint.

Get-together at Flying Deer (Utrecht)

In Utrecht, residents of Flying Deer hosted a get-together in the meeting room. More than 60 tenants joined for drinks, pizza, and music. Throughout the evening, neighbours got to know each other better, and the atmosphere became more and more lively.

Resident Eleni, one of the organisers, received a lot of positive reactions and says it’s an event worth repeating. “The party was super nice and a lot of people were happy to meet their neighbours. Many people thanked me for organising it and taking the initiative. There is clearly a need for community, especially because most of us are expats. We started off just socialising, but later there was also dancing. It’s really nice to now see familiar faces in the building and say hi.”

Buzzing workshop at De Evert

Beeswax workshop at De Evert (The Hague)

At De Evert in The Hague, residents gathered for a creative beeswax workshop. During the session, they learned how to make their own hand-dipped beeswax candles while discovering the history behind this centuries-old craft.

The workshop offered a nice change of pace: working with your hands, learning something new, and chatting with neighbours along the way. Everyone went home with their own handmade candles - and a shared experience to look back on.

Potluck event at The European (Zoetermeer)

At The European in Zoetermeer, residents came together for a potluck dinner with homemade dishes and plenty of conversation. Around 30 residents joined, sharing food from different cultures and enjoying a relaxed evening together.

Resident Sahar shared that the evening was a big success. And honestly, with good food and good company, it’s hard to go wrong.

An outdoor escape room adventure at Nijenoord (Utrecht)

The residents of Nijenoord in Utrecht went on an outdoor escape room adventure. Working together, discussing strategies, and sharing a lot of laughs made it a fun and active way to get to know each other.

After the event, resident Fleur shared that a group chat was set up where neighbours now organise game nights from time to time - a great example of how one event can lead to more connection.

Community doesn’t stop after one evening

It’s great to see residents staying in touch even after the events. Especially during the colder months, these small moments of connection make everyday living just a bit nicer.

Whether you join an event or organise one yourself, getting involved is a simple way to meet people and feel at home. And who knows - it might just be the start of a new friendship.
